2001 CV 4.6 Interference engine...UPDATE

Is a 2001 Crown Victoria 4.6 an interference engine? Did a search, and it said 91-98 are, but no mention of others?
I think my timing chain broke!!

THanks

Re: 2001 CV 4.6 Interference engine????

OK. Here is what I have found. I can get it started now after a while. I can tell there is a different sound when starting and running...It is missing.

The driver side exaust gets FIRE hot in no time including manifold, cat, and exaust gas is blowing out tailpipe.

The passenger side does not get that hot, and does not appear to be blowing anything out tailpipe?

What gives? Pluged cat? Broken timing chain on one side? Bad injectors?

Thanks
BH

Re: 2001 CV 4.6 Interference engine????

OK, I did a compression test.
Driver side ave is 150 psi
Passenger side 0 psi.

I guess the timing chain broke on that side.

Never got an answer to the interference engine or not, but I assume it is.

Guess I will have to replace that head as well.

Re: 2001 CV 4.6 Interference engine????

Nevermind. Pulled the valve cover and found all rockers but 2 were in the bottom of the head. The timing chain was still on though...must have slippped.

Thanks for no help.
