So I bought a 2002 Crown Victoria 4.6L off auction, it had 230k miles. But when I drive it, it doesn't feel like a v8 at all, feels like a 4 cyclinder running on 2 cylinders, it has like very little power at all, and it is very slow to accelerate. The thing is though ,I got it smogged and the guy said the engine is in great condition and it passed all the tests good. I tried linking up the OBDII scanner to see whats up but surprisingly there weren't any codes. So I changed the spark plugs as well, but that didn't help either.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Has the fuel filter been changed? Also, clean the MAF with MAF cleaner. Could the exhaust be plugged?

Could the camshafts be worn out, causing the valves to barely open? I've heard that these cars have that problem, especially high mileage.

I don't think its the exhaust, but no I didn't change anything else.

I don't think its the MAF either cause it would show on the OBDII diagnostic.

If the MAF is dirty, it won't show a code. We haven't seen any cams wear down. Ours are serviced regularly though. Have you checked the compression? The exhaust can also give poor performance. Check engine vacuum at idle, raise the RPM to about 2500 and the vacuum should drop and return to almost what it wa at idle. If it stays low, the exhaust is restricted.
