2003 Crown Vic MPG's

Hi All... I am new here. I get about 14 mpg on my 2003 Crown Vic LX. The car runs great and is driven 60% highway, 40% rural. I have had it 1 week. Shouldn't I be doing better than this and if so what should I direction should the dealer go in when trying to determine the problem. BTW - the car has 33K on it.

www.fueleconomy.gov will tell you the ratings. As for things to check, oxygen sensors, spark plugs and wires, theres allot of emission stuff I'm not familiar with on 03s.

That mileage might fit an old, abused, not properly maintained box body w/ 150,000+ miles, not a 2003 CV. Unless you drive like you stole it 100% of the time, you should be getting something like 20 to 22 as an average. (Thats about what i get with my 95 p74.)

By the way, I am Kenny. This is my first post here, but i have been a member of crownvic.us since December, '03 and see a few familiar people here.

Re: 2003 Crown Vic MPG's

I can get mileage as low as 14 mpg on my 2004 Grand Marquis. But if I drive as if there is an egg between my foot and the gas pedal, I can get as high as 22 mpg. I reset my mileage indicator at every fillup. I got 20.1 mpg from my last tank of gas. I am pleased.
