2003 Crown Vic Transmission Removal Trouble!!!! - Ford Forums - Mustang Forum, Ford Trucks, Ford Focus and Ford Cars

Has any of you ever taken out a tranny in the 2003 crown victoria pi? The tranny is ready to drop, just need to get the transmission crossmember/brace out of way. Err I have watched videos on how to remove and all that have got it out are using a garage lift and a large slide hammer. This would be fine if i had the life but I dont and am limited to how much room I have in between the car and cement. Any one .........?????...???:beerbottl

They are hard to remove. The crossbolts pulls the metal in and squeezes it in place. You have to pry it out and before reinstalling it, I hammer the space wider. Also use some antisieze on the sides of the crossmember before installing it. That makes it go in easier.

Cool thanks, And I was thinking of that, but was considering the integrity of the framke pocket, and didnt want to have the transmission sitting on a bent crossmember causing a miss alignment of the drive shaft, and transmission.
