2003 Grand Marquis Airbag Code 33

Airbag flashing fault code 33. Haven't been able to locate explanation in search of forum for this year and model. Web search indicates this code could be driver side belt pretensioner but get conflicting results for this error code. Can anyone tell me what this fault code is?

I think it was for the pass side front air bag. You may just have to bite the bullet and get it tested by the dealer. Generally the component that caused the code is what needs to be replaced. Take into consideration if you bought it used though. Something like this may be better for the dealer to handle. You should get a warranty on the part and labor if they fix it. Not to mention peace of mind. After all it is your safety. Let them be responsible

Thanks but I was hoping someone would know if the flashing code meant something more specific or a link to a list of the fault codes. I found 2 or 3 code lists but they varied by year model so am looking for a code list that applies to the 2003 year model.

Update

Never found out what the code meant but problem turned out to be the restraint control module (RCM). Replaced and no more air bag light.

Re: 2003 Grand Marquis Airbag Code 33

I'm a little late but have a 2006 that had the same 33 airbag code. i went to the dealer and they said driver pretensioner so whole sealbelt was replaced for about 188 parts, 200 labor. then exactly 7 days later the same error.
i tool back to dealer they said now its the passenger seat belt pretensioner.
i didnot get it fixed. I dont know what to think. the supposdly fixed the first time. if you just take for a diag its about 80 and they will tell you the problem.
maybe corrosion is taking its toll on the pretensioners but right now I just can accept that two parts failed like in one week.
As long as your air bag is working you can live with this or put out a few bucks to get it fixed.

1997 - headon -TOTALED OUT
1998 - front side swiped - TOTAL OUT
2006 - STILL HAS A PULSE !!!!!!!

SOLVED!!! 2003 Grand Marquis Airbag Code 33

I know it has been a while since someone last posted here. Hopefully this info will help someone who may have this problem in the future.
I have a 2006 Grand Marquis that the airbag light was flashing a code 3-3 and chiming a series of 5 sets of 5-tone bursts. At first I found a forum that said this was a passenger side air bag issue. It was later that I found that may have been true for a different model/year but was not correct for my model/year.
I found that my “3-3” was a fault with the driver’s side seat belt pretensioner. I found a company online, Safety Restore, that I shipped my seat belt to for repairs. It cost $80 and they are very quick. They received mine, repaired it, and shipped it out the same day. This is a great deal compared to the dealers over $400 for a new one.
When I installed my repaired seat belt I found that I now had a code 3-4, which is the passenger seat belt. I was more than just a little ticked off. Then I found this in the shop manual: “LFCs are prioritized. If 2 or more faults occur at the same time, the fault having the highest priority will be displayed first. After that fault has been corrected, the next highest priority fault will be displayed”.
So, with little choice I sent my passenger seat belt to Safety Restore for repair. After receiving it back and installing it there are NO more chimes, tones, or flashing! Praise God!
