SOLVED!!! 2003 Grand Marquis Airbag Code 33
I know it has been a while since someone last posted here. Hopefully this info will help someone who may have this problem in the future.
I have a 2006 Grand Marquis that the airbag light was flashing a code 3-3 and chiming a series of 5 sets of 5-tone bursts. At first I found a forum that said this was a passenger side air bag issue. It was later that I found that may have been true for a different model/year but was not correct for my model/year.
I found that my “3-3” was a fault with the driver’s side seat belt pretensioner. I found a company online, Safety Restore, that I shipped my seat belt to for repairs. It cost $80 and they are very quick. They received mine, repaired it, and shipped it out the same day. This is a great deal compared to the dealers over $400 for a new one.
When I installed my repaired seat belt I found that I now had a code 3-4, which is the passenger seat belt. I was more than just a little ticked off. Then I found this in the shop manual: “LFCs are prioritized. If 2 or more faults occur at the same time, the fault having the highest priority will be displayed first. After that fault has been corrected, the next highest priority fault will be displayed”.
So, with little choice I sent my passenger seat belt to Safety Restore for repair. After receiving it back and installing it there are NO more chimes, tones, or flashing! Praise God!
