I have a 2004 Crown vic that has 140,000 miles on it. Recently has started taking longer to shift into 2nd gear. Also when going into overdrive feels like it has been put into neutral and just revs up. But it doesnt shift hard, or have any other problems! And it comes and goes!! I changed the filter and added the correct fluid. Still the same! I am beginning to think possibly a shift solinoid in the valve body is going bad or sticking? Any help would be appreciated!!

Go to O'reilys or Autozone and they'll pull codes for free. While there, get some MAF cleaner and clean the MAF.

There are no lights flashing. And it is definently the transmission. Not the Maf.

You don't have to have a light to have codes present. The engine operation controls the trans shifting. Many times cleaning the MAF corrects that.

Well cleaned the MAF sensor today, still haveing problems. Still not shifting like it should and is only from 1st to 2nd. Any other ideas?

Forget it, I am selling the car and getting 4 wheel drive!! Tired of messing with it. Thanks for all the help guys. I will be getting another ford for sure, so I will be back!!
