Does anybody have any good idea when the facelifted 2006 Vic will be unveiled? I've checked this board and various other web sites yet I've gotten no real answers. What's a good guess on when a spy shot may show up? I'm really dying to find out what the new one will look like and if the engine will be 3v or not. Some say it will look like the 427 concept, others say that hideous Falcon (boring) from Australia.
Any serious ideas/answers would help. I plan on being able to get one this fall....unless they butcher it!
Does anybody ever frequent this board or not? Doesn't matter anyway because I've got my answer about the Crown Vic. If anybody wants to know what I found out......you can just post a question.
Tell it all! Is it getting smaller (I hope not). Have they managed to stylishly put on a hood ornament (the hood goes on for eternity) Is it a 3 valve engine?

Okay, life does exist on this board after all!
Well, the following changes will be on the 2006 Crown Vic:
EXTERIOR
Optional 16" chrome plated wheels available on LX
Rear windshield in-glass antenna
Trip computer std. on LX and Sport
New Color....Tungsten Clearcoat Metallic
Deleted Color...Midnight Grey
INTERIOR
Auto temp. control std. on LX
Light Camel trim replaces Medium Parchment trim
Medium Light Stone trim replaces Light Flint trim
Charcoal Black trim replaces Midnight black trim
FUNCTIONAL
Optional Perimeter Alarm System avail. on all models.
That's about it. No 3v, no facelift (that will be '07), and no hood ornament...lol.
I'm a bit bummed about the Midnight Grey being dropped....I wanted an '06 in that color!
That Falcon from Australia isn't expected to be the Crown Vic until 2008 at least. If it is not viewed favorably upon, Ford will save the current Crown Vic look for the P71, but the public model will get the new look. We will have to see how it turns out.

Well, if it's the Falcon, I'm glad I'm buying a 2006 Crown Vic this fall. No offense to the Aussies out there, but the Falcon styling is bland at best. I have heard that the Mercury Grand Marquis is getting a facelift for '06...and this is for sure because I saw it posted on a Ford ordering guide. If it looks nice I may even consider getting that instead.
Boy, if it's true about the Falcon, it'll be a sad day to say good bye to the old Vic.
Well, if your talking the falcon from mad max it'd be sweet, but from the new falcon over there, No way. Don't think a 78 monza front and trunk with roof wing would fit :) I say put some sharp edges on the new crown like the new cadi (STX?) and dodge magnum, bring back the good old LTD of the 80s with option of the Triton V8 (I know the V10 would never fit :( ). Nice big LED taillights that make people go "how did they make those fit?" same with the headlights :) And no crapy side trim like that focus, how the wheel wells terminate the trim on the side, ugly. I'd be taking a loan now to get it :)
