Thumbs down Re: 5.4L Crown Vic - really short video.

IF: the video is in real time, and not sped up; AND the rear end hasn't gone from a 2.73 to a 3.55 or 4.10 without recalibration of the speedometer (going from numerically lowest probable, to highest, without a recalibration would mean that the speedo would read 60 before the car hit a true 40...in which case even if the video is in realtime, that wouldn't be very a very fast zero to sixty, but a rather mundane zero to forty.)

If the car is so fast, I'd like to see the timing slip from a strip.

And another thing that is suspicious to me, why no brags about what was done to get that "neck-snapping" acceleration? Methinks this has a bit of an odor of fish about it...just saying...

According to the the videos time, he did 0-60 in probably a little over 7 seconds. Very peppy for a full sized sedan, but nothing that's not believable with the right tune on a HP 5.4.

Re: 5.4L Crown Vic - really short video.

Hum? Anybody can put low gears in a car and light the tires at the cost of mileage and driveability.
Stock 5.4s don't run much better than stock 4.6s and I have not had good results with JUST intake mods on 5.4s.
Show me a daily driver CV, with 3:23's, that's quick, gets 20+mpg, and cruises on the freeway at 75, and you're probably looking at a properly built 5.4 under the hood (heads, cam, intake, exhaust and tune, all aimed at torque, not screaming RPMs).

Re: 5.4L Crown Vic - really short video.

I will say that the Youtube video shows enough hardware to make such performance seem possible, though I still would like to see some actual times.

How does the 4.6L bottom end hold up to increased pressure from superchargers, turbos and/or nitrous? How much boost can a stock block take, before you need to beef up things like the crank, bearings, pistons, conn rods, etc.?

Or are you just rolling the dice to put forced induction at any pressure onto a stock 4.6L motor plus only a tune?
