Im looking for the best way to get more horsepower outta my 302, its fuel injected and id like to get rid of alot of the pollution control system on it, ive just never done it before on something that new, any advice would be greatly appreciated....im thinking a bigger cam, headers, port/polish the heads and stainless vavles......

The simplest way to do it would probably be to change to 5.0 Mustang parts (EFI system, heads, cam, etc). If you don't want to go to that trouble, just buy an H.O. 302 from a Mustang, drop it in and go.

You cannot legally, anywhere in North America, simply "get rid" of the emission system. By law, those components not only have to exist under the hood, but they must also work. Your vehicle must conform to emission rules, laws & regulations for the year in which it was built. Since your vehicle is a 1991, it is expected that it meets the regulations for 1991.

There is nothing stopping you from simply being rid of it all, but if the car ever needs to pass an emissions test, needs to be certified, or is inspected by a cop with nothing better to do, you can expect some headaches.

Just making you aware of the laws. I have a V8 Fiero, and I can tell you it does not meet emissions for 1985. I has been through emission testing & certification in the past, and nothing has ever been said. I've been told it classifies as a "kit car" here, and different rules apply. However, as I understand things, kit car or not, it still has to meet 1985 specs. There is the potential I may have to bring it up to emission specs for 1985, but for now, I drive as-is.
