91 Crown, 5.8L, 7200VV Hard Starting

Seems like the fuel is draining out of the bowl overnight. Checked the carb line at the mechanical fuel pump and had gas so I know it's not draining back to tank. Pour a little gas into carb and it fires right and is good for the day. Otherwise I have to crank it until the bowl is full to start it. I'm told the main well plugs need to be resealed. Before I tear into the carb I was wondering if anyone has had a similar problem. Carb is Motorcraft 7200VV, #F0AE-AA. Thanks

There can be several problems that can cause that. Have you looked in the carb and pumped the linkage? If no gas is pumped in, try it when it's run a little. If it's leaking, it would probably be hard to start warm too because it would be to rich. How does it run otherwise? No hesitation? Those carbs had a lot of techs complaining about them but they were hard to adjust if you didn't know what you were doing. When adjusted right, the cars got great mileage and performance.
