First off you better be prepared to love this car. What I mean is, if in six months you get tired of it and you've dumped money into it you'll still have a '92 Crown Vic. That being said and assuming there are not a lot of other problems with the car, you should have a good solid car. You should be able to get the brakes done for 600 or less. Lots less if you do it yourself. The tires I would go top dollar on. I am real happy with my Michelins. But MAKE SURE your front end is in good shape and will hold an alignment. What about the shocks? I would go to the expense of putting new parts under there, but then the price starts going up fast. The paint is the last thing I would worry about, after you get this car safe and mechanically sound. You can spend $1,000on a decent paint job I would think.
There are lots of opinions out there...this is just one. Good luck.
