Just picked up some new headlamps/lenses for a '93 Marquis, but can't remove those "clips" that keep them secured. I've been trying with snap-ring pliers, but not having any luck.

Any suggestions?

The snap ring pliers will do the trick but you've got to pull up on the ring at the same time you widen the clip. I used a pair of needle nose pliers to pull up on the clip while expanding the clip with the snap ring pliers.They are a "PITA". When installing ,they just slip right in with no trouble.

Yes, "PITA" is correct! I guess I need to find the 90* angle tips for my snap-ring pliers...the top clip was accessible w/ the straight tips, but the bottom and side seem impossible!

...just making sure there wasn't a "special" tool that was required.

Those things definitely are a pain. I found I had to modify my snap ring pliers a little bit so that they'd open wide enough to release it. The whole mounting system seems very Mickey Mouse-ish to me.

Or you could use the needlenose pliers and bend the rings out of the way till you get ready to put them back and then bend them back.
