97 Crown Victoria Fuel pump question

Hello, it's nice to meet you all.

Sorry about just hopping on here and asking a question right away... but my business depends on my car and its kind of urgent right now.

I own a 97 Crown Victoria and I've recently just bought a new fuel pump for it. I installed the fuel pump and I even wired it up directly, got rid of the old plug cause I was told when the fuel pumps go they go too. Right now the problem I'm experiencing is... I'm not getting the full 12v to the fuel pump, I'm only getting 6v. Someone else has told me that when the fuel pumps go on these sometimes the ECU messes up along with it, but I kind of find that hard to believe. I've done everything I can think of... checked all the relays and everything, I'm truely stuck.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Re: 97 Crown Victoria Fuel pump question

Take off the negative battery cable and leave it off for a good five minutes. That's the easiest way to reset the vehicles computer. Do you know if the old pump was a 6V type? I can't imagine there being a bad ground somewhere if you do get 6V.
