97 Grand Marquis cranks won't start, no spark, help!

Hello, I have a 1997 Mercury Grand Marquis. It just cranks and cranks then suddenly starts and acts like nothing ever happened. It did this three or four times and now won't start at all, We checked and there is no spark it hasn't started for about a week now. Any help is appreciated, Thanks Jules.

Pull the coil lead , does it spark when cranked ?
is it blue or yellow ?
Yellow means possibly bad coil and will need replacement , no spark means no voltage to the coil so you need to read the manual and work out why , blue spark means good coil so check for a bad rotor or cap .
good luck

The is NO spark at all and there is power getting to both coil packs via the R/LG wire as shown inthe wireing diagram. I think it might be the crank position sensor. I tested both the wires and they both have what appears to be a constant 1.5 volts so I don't know if the signal switches too quickly for me to pick up or if the sensor is dead.

Jules.

Ok, so I went to advanced and bought a crankshaft position sensor. Went to put it on and found I would have to remove the polution control pump. Choose instead to try wiggling the connector and it runs great now. Yeah.
