'98 plastic manifold on a '99?

hello everyone, i'm new to this site. i just picked up a '99 crown vic P71. I was doing some research on a few of the ford forum sites and a common thing is the aluminum intake manifolds from '99-up have an issue with cracking near the thermostat housing.

my question is, cout i put a plastic intake manifold from a '99 crown vic civilian car on my '99 P71?
if i can, is the gasket different, or is it the same part number?

thanks in advance

The plastic intakes are the ones that crack. If you already have an aluminum intake, you wont have a problem.

Re: '98 plastic manifold on a '99?

While we're on the subject: I remember seeing somewhere that Ford did a recall on the plastic manifolds but only for police departments, etc. Bert, I noticed you said you still have the plastic on your '00 (as do I)...any info on a recall? Also, do you plan to change it in the near future or will you just keep an eye on it?

Thanks,

Bob
