99 Gr Marquis Air Ride replace w/ springs=rides too high - Ford Forums - Mustang Forum, Ford Trucks, Ford Focus and Ford Cars

I had to have the air suspension replaced w/ metal springs on my 99 Mercury Grand Marquis, and now the rear-end rides really high. Is there anything, short of torch-cutting the springs to a shorter length, that can be done to make her ride a little lower? Hopefully, something within the scope of a shade tree mechanics' skill level?
Somebody mentioned that there's a "kit", or something similar, that'll compress the springs but, he could give no more details than that.

Did they use the springs that were for that particular car. They have taxi springs that are higher.

--Not certain if they're for my particular year or model. I seem to remember being told by bthe folks at the junk yard that the springs were off a Crown Vic.

Like I said, it does ride noticably high, now... VERY noticably(!) so, they may very well be "taxi springs". I got them from a full-service (not a "you-pull-it" type yard) yard months ago so they wouldn't remember, and I already called the shop where they replaced the air ride w/ the springs, and they said they simply didn't know.

I had a 98 in which I bought a kit that was made expecially for the conversion from air to standard. I fit perfectly and no difference was observed. You have to do a search on the net for kits like this. I do remember paying a little more than usual for them. Try this site and related searches to the the names they use Air Suspension Kit Manuals & Assembly Instructions .
then again you can play with the spring you have,I know they sell like some kit that you put on the coils to compress them while they are in the car and you drive it like that.
