99 Grand Marquis Spark Plug Problem

I want to change the plugs on my 99 Grand Marquis, but there looks to be fuel rails or something hovering right over the plugs. Is there something that has to be removed in order to get at the spark plugs to remove them? Thanks.

The only thing that has to be removed is the intake hose. The coils pull out without removing the rails. Make sure you blow any debri out of the way before and after removing the coils. Be sure to torrque the plugs the proper amount to ensure the plugs don't blow out when the aluminum head expands. VERY IMPORTANT.

Re: 99 Grand Marquis Spark Plug Problem

Thanks Bert. I've got the torque wrench and blowing air part covered, but on closer inspection I still notice a metal chrome piece covering the plugs which looks to be bolted down. Can I post a pic here of what I'm looking at? If so I'll do that asap. Thanks.

Also have one additional question if anybody has any answers if would be greatly appreciated. Had the wheel bearings replaced on the front drivers side a while back and then a short while after my cruise control stopped working. Checked the fuses and they are fine. I wonder if something got accidentally moved or bumped while the repair was being completed? tia

That chrome piece is the fuel injector rail and the coils pull out form under it easily.

The cruise control isn't connected to that area at all. Try pulling up on the brake pedal and see if that helps. The brake switch may be out of adjustment or defective.

Well Bert I tried what you said with the brake pedal and it did not seem to help/work. I did notice that my horn does not work either. The horn and cruise control are located near each other on the steering wheel. Bert, any significance to this or do you have any further ideas? tia

Re: 99 Grand Marquis Spark Plug Problem

They both run through the clock spring so that could be where the problem lies.
