My '91 Grand Marquis has a very annoying problem with the airbag light and warning tone. Either the dash warning light will flash five times, pause, five times, pause...as long as the car is running. When the light stops flashing, then the airbag warning tone comes on...beep beep beep...beep beep beep...It is annoying as hell!!! The local Ford dealer was no help at all.

Any ideas on how to rid myself of both of these problems?????

When you turn the key on, it should flash a code. Count the flashes to see what you get. There isn't a 5 or 55 code that I know of.

It's five - pause - five - pause...like that. I've looked at this forever, it's fives.

For some weird-ass reason, it quit doing it while I was driving it tonight. No flashes, no tone. The "fives" indicate a short in the airbag sensor, from what I've read. But then, my '06 Chrysler and my son's '99 Chevy have flashing air bag lights, too. Three manufacturers, same problem.
