Are all 8.8 parts universal? - Ford Forums

I'm looking into buying a posi unit, but would also like to ditch the 3.08 gears and maybe go for something like 3.55. Looking around, I'm looking for anything that fits a Ford 8.8 rearend. Will anything thats made to fit an 8.8 fit my '88 CV? Stupid question, just makin sure. Thanks.

All 8.8 ford gear sets will work be some axels have different splines 28 or 31

Anything you buy that says it's for a Mustang should fit your car. As Reman said, just make sure they're made for 28 spline axles (which the vast majority of stuff is).

Gear sets are the same and diffs interchange. Since Mustangs and Vics (except for limo) diffs use 28 spline, it is easy to find replacements/upgrades.
