Are your plastic headlight lenses fogged or turning that nasty yellowish-brown color? Try this, it works great!!!
Using 180 grit sandpaper, by hand, lightly sand the entire surface until it becomes bright white, looking similar to frosted glass. Clean away any sanding dust and then spray the sanded areas with a quality gloss clear coat. I used Rustoleum in a spray can and my lights look and work as if they were new!
Try this, you will be absolutely amazed!

Doesn't the 180 grit leave it a little bit rough? I would think after the 180 you'd want to move up to 300, 400, and possibly even 1000 grit to make absolutely sure it's smooth before coating them with anything.

Not only did the 180 not leave any scratches but it took some out. Like I said, they turned out looking new. I'm VERY pleased.

I use a regular buffer. Hand-sanding is too much work.

Mine were too nasty looking for even a diesel powered buffer! I expected to replace them so I saw no risk in sanding them. For those not as bad as mine a buffer or even mild polishing compound might be the perfect solution.
