When buying an ex-cop car try if possible to get an ex- highway patrol car instead of an ex- city cop car.

Pros:
Most of the miles are highway miles
There are kept in a good maintnance schedule.
Less stress to the suspension
They aren't as beat up as some city cars

Cons:
Go from 0 to 90 mph in (WOw = really fast)
are kept running for almost 24 hrs. ( cops don't like to seat in a extremely hot or cold car)
