I've done some site searches and can't seem to find the answer(s) I'm looking for.

I'm having some problems with the OEM variable venturi carburetor on my
1991 Ford Crown Victoria (5.8L) and most of my mechanic friends are not
enthusiastic about rebuilding it. I see where a Motorcraft 2150 has been
mentioned as a good substitute for the VV carb.

Can someone provide details about what model, year, etc. of a 2150 would
be the appropriate one for my situation?

Ask for a Motorcraft 2150 for an '81 Thunderbird. You could just rebuild it, though, I did it and it's really not all that difficult.
