Changing Wiper Blade on Grand Marquis

I have a 1993 Grand Marquis. I want to change the wipers, but not just the refill - the whole blade.

But I can't, for the life of me, figure out how to get the metal frame that holds the refills off of the arm that attaches at the base of the windshield.

There's a pin that goes through the metal frame but I can't figure out how to get it off. There's no clip or tab or anything else to press. There's a round thing that looks like a washer that's crimped at the edges but it doesn't seem like it comes off.

Can someone please describe how to do this? Thanks!

There's nothing to release it?
I tried pulling it off but it didn't come off easily.
I was afraid to force it off.

I have a 2000 Grand Marquis and I bought my wipers at Wal Mart. Every dealer around here changes the wipers for you, Checkers, Autozone Wal Mart. The girl at Wal Mart did not use any tools, it just clicked right off.

I think you have the old style. There is a small detent in the pin. There should be a small part, probably on the underside that needs pressed or depressed to remove it.

Have Autozone change them for you or O'Reilly's,Advance or whatever parts store you get them at. You can buy the whole blade for about $7.00 each.

badly need an new set of wipers! If you can't pull it off I guess it needs some muscle to release and put in a new refill.

Re: Changing Wiper Blade on Grand Marquis

Hi, trying to remember; If you have the type with the pin that goes through the blade, you need to lift the blade from the windshield, bend it backwards, and the metal band that fits in the grove at the end of the wiper arm will let go. To install new blade, slip it on over the peg until it clicks.
