New Member here,

I am helping someone out who has a 84 crown victoria that I may purchase,(Idn engine size etc) new alternater, new voltage regulater, He say's i can charge my battery with my wall charger, but schucks tells him his battery is bad, engine won't charge battery, I told him to check all connections for looseness and corrosion, he said all was fine. Any thing else he should check, like I remember a square box on the driver's side fender wall inside engine compartment,( on a 82 Crown Vic though) forget what its called but it's electrical.

common things to check:
all connections and condition of wires, including under the insulation.

have to check fusible links under the hood too... the box you are talking about is part of the ignition system and doesnt really do anything for the charging part from the alternator to the battery. i would try cheapest thing first and work your way toward more expensive. i would check battery cable ends and give them a twist since bad connections make these cars act weird. then check for fusible links gone bad. if necessary, get a battery then work your way to a alternator.
