Exclamation Cold start problems...

I have a 2007 Crown Vic with the FlexFuel V-8, and lately I have been having a hard time starting it in the morning (usually around 30-40 degrees). It usually takes 3 tries before it will turn over. I don't know what is happening, I've never had this problem before. It's due for an oil change, and I run E85 all the time. Could that be the issue?

Re: Cold start problems...

Yeah, in extremely cold temperatures E85 is a little bit harder to get going.

I would try using a half tank of E85 mixed with a half tank of gasoline and see if that improves it.

Re: Cold start problems...

Try a tank of regular fuel or try using the block heater; You should have one installed already. I hate to say it but as its a 2007, take it to the dealer as it should be covered under warranty and see what they suggest if the problem persists. Once the real, cold weather gets here you want to make darn sure it'll start.

^^^^yeah, I was going to say the same. Take it to the dealer. '07 should still be under warranty.

Re: Cold start problems...

Sorry guys. I don't know why I said '07 because it's an '06. Not that it matters, it's still under warranty. It hasn't done it lately though, and it's been even colder than earlier this month. I usually will turn the key to "on" and wait a couple seconds to let the battery wake up and the injectors to do their thing before I actually try to start it. It's not not winter yeat, and colder weather is sure to come so we'll see what happens...

Re: Cold start problems...

I wouldn't wait too long, you don't want to have the car not-start for you. I'm sure Ford had the E85 setup in mind for fleet applications such as taxi's etc, where the engine is running nearly all the time. Be sure to take it into Ford and let us know what they say

I had a Pegeot 406 and it never started in the morning. Check the Spark Plugs.

I had the same problem with my Sport Trac.
My reasoning is here:
