Coming home wednesday I got that wonderful smell of coolant and the car started running hot so I let it sit over night and added about a gallon and a quarter of liquid back in the overflow. I let it run but it would never get warm so the boy and I ran it around the block and the coolant looks to be coming out over the top of the trans. Could it be the heater line under the intake? This car has a metal intake instaed of a plastic one.

It could be the coolant hose under your intake but it could also be the rear heater hose nipple on the left-rear (passenger side) of the intake. These are known to sometimes crack and leak. Look at the 2nd picture on the page below to see the location...
I had a coolant leak on top of the engine. In my case, it is a leak from the intake manifold gasket. I replaced the intake manifold gasket and aside from it, a new airaid intake. Which really needed an upgrade that time.
