Crappy day

Well, I broke my car. It has been raining for the past 24 hours, the roads flooded. I was driving to nightschool and nailed a puddle on Elwell RD (michigan), it was to dark to see and our roads here are bad, my car did not hydroplane, it weighs 5300 LBS and I was going 30mph (in a 35), wide tires too, but she sliced through the water. I think some water got on the coil to the point it cross sparked and blew the ignition coil, 50,000 volts will destroy anything. Had the car towed home on AAA. I was out on Belleville RD past Denton towards I94, right on the curve. I'm going to replace the coil and run my checker on it, also I'm water proofing the car tomorrow! First time this ever happen, I've hit bigger puddles and it ran good :) Also, thanks to the officer who stayed there till I was towed, didn't get his name tho.

Next time I get the feeling to just stay home, I'm staying home.

PS, I skipped nightschool today :) First time.

The Crown will be running in no time :)

Re: Crappy day

Did you have the coil that could be opened? A friend drowned his truck and couldn't get it to start. Went out the next day, opened the coil, dumped the water out, wiped it down, and kept on rolling.

...and he learned not to grab a coil full of water while I'm trying to start the motor.

Re: Crappy day

The alternator got water in it and fried, then it drained the battery, but the AMP light never came on because when I installed the new dash I forgot to put that bulb in :( Any way, I was happy for the lifetime warrenty :) I checked all the dash lights, the AMP was the only missing one (excluding fasten seat belts). I think I might make a splash sheild for it. Shes running great now :)
