hi. I have a 1997 ford crown victoria police interceptor. I am having difficulties starting my car in the morning or when the engine has cooled down for several hours. Now the engine starts, but in order to keep it running, I have to keep the gas pedal pressed so that it does not die out. After a few minutes, it will either maintain idle without dying out, and or will start to run good when I am running the car, of course, with the gas pedal pressed at all times until it maintains Idle after a while and does not die out. Has anyone had this similar problem with crown victorias? thanks--John

having the same problem with mine. if i hold down the pedal for about 2 seconds before i try to start it, it helps.

Could have an Idle Air Control Valve on the way out as they're notorious for failing on these motors. Additionally, I would clean the MAF sensor as that helps cold startups.
