Over in the Powerstroke forums, they do what is called a 6637 mod. I myself have done this mod to all 3 PSD's that I owned. It involves removing the original air cleaner box and replacing it with a Napa/Wix (4)6637 air filter. Is there a similar mod for the CV/MGM?
I've seen the mod, and this one falls under the category of just because it's modded doesn't mean it's better. I own a 6.0 Escursion 4wd and tried an under hood intake mod just because it was given to me to try free. It cost mileage and seat of the pants HP. Stick with the fresh cool (dense air is free horsepower and torque) air from the grill. Additionally, the stock Donaldson Diesel filter is one or the least restrictive filters on the market. For the cars, I use K&N (I know about the K&N controversy, but have used them successfully in Baja for years) filters with the stock fresh air box, but know that a stock Marauder box flows better.
Marauder box is really the way to go. But I see you have a 2005.. It will work but with the drive by wire it changes a couple things. and Im not exactly sure what those things are. I think its mostly the zip tube and MAF sensor but not positive.
One of the things that attracted me to my GM, was the fact that it had a CAI under the hood! I didn't even know anyone made one for Panthers! I guess I'll have to look harder, and see if I can see a name somewhere. I know it's not a "DIY" kit (like what they have on Horsepower TV), where you put the parts together, send it in, and the company will weld it all up for you. This looks like a CAI that was specifically made for the Panther.
