Hello, I have noticed that here recently just out of the blue at the next time I started up my 2006 GRAND MARQUIS the instrument (electronic) stated that the or one of the doors was open and that the fuel cap was not on.
I checked all doors, checked gas cap - even tried two fuel caps. Any ideas where to start for troubleshooting. I did disconnect the battery for 5 minutes to reset the system, checked fuses but not physically pulled them out. I could not see any burned out. I still get same error every time I start the car. when I filled up today the fuel gauge didnot go to full, only after about a hour drive that it went to full and showed that I had about 380 miles to drive. Any ideas? thanks.

OOOOPS!!!!!!
Have found some other things here. I have misled the forum. After digging around and some more reading I found out that the door and trunk and gas indicators are showing as normal. I DID have the fuel gauge act crazy last week when I filled up. Why ? I dont know. I filled up today and it appeared to go to full as soon as I did the first start after the fill. I will continue to watch this. There is a way to test the sender or to determine if there is a problem with the instrument panel indicator or the actual sending unit, but I have not attempted it. It consists of some ohm readings witht he harnesses.
