Good Morning, My name is Kelli and I am new here to this forum. I have a question about a 01 Crown Vic. We have power going to the fuel pump with plug UNHOOKED, but as soon as you plug it back in the power goes away. Have tried different fuel pump, have checked all wiring, roll-over switch in trunk and still nothing. Like i said as long as it is disconnected we have power but no power with it connected. If anyone could please help I would greatly appreciate it. (and if possible - as soon as possible)

There shouldn't be power to the pump except for a few seconds when you turn the key to run and when the engine is running. What are you trying to do?

when you unplug the fuel pump connection, it has that 2second power with the key on, but when you plug the fuel pump back in it loses that power. The vehicle does not have any fuel pressure.

Have you tried runnig a wire from the battery directly to the pump? I'm guessing you have a bad pump.

ok, just run a wire from the battery to the fuel pump and it comes on with that wire. We have put 3 different fuel pumps in from 3 different part stores so we are pretty sure its not the pump. So now that the wire allows it to come on, what do you think the issue is?? (Thanks)

The power comes through a fuse, relay and inertia switch before the pump. If it ran with the wire from the battery, you can be SURE the pump is okay.
