Fuel Pump dying?

Heres the story, my car is not getting any fuel... Blew air into the line from the tank to the carb, air came out at the carb blew into the tank and air bubbled out of the gas. put the line in a cup of gas, no suction that I could tell...
now im assuming this is probably a fuel pump problem
Would another sign of fuel pump problems be stalling at WOT and hard starts? because I have been having these symptoms for a while

good news is now I have new tires and a fixed exhaust on the car

Re: Fuel Pump dying?

what month and year is the car. I think you mentioned it was a 1984 2 bbl carb with no injectors or with? Price differnce of $450 if it does have a injector carb and is a pain. If it a injected car you should get around 30-35 PSI of gas (check your cars manual, I maybe a little off). Also, if the cars is getting no gas at all chech the fuel pump switch located in the trunk near the drivers hing, has a white button on top, or its at the passengers front door. If you bumped the car or in some cases when the shop put the tires on they may have hit the car and popped the fuel pump switch off. Seldome do I here of the pump going. If none of that works there are 3 relays under the, drivers side front of the fender or pessenger mid fender, those go bad and or start too and cause low fuel pressure. Now if it not a injected 84 the its a metter of 2 bolts and 2 gas lines and about 1 hour of work.

Re: Fuel Pump dying?

well found the problem, wasnt the fuel pump, was the fuel line, it was letting air in and the pump couldnt keep a syphon. turns out someone patched the line with air compressor hose, ran all new fuel lines and solved the problem
