Re: fuel sending unit

i cant remember right off when Ford flipped to having the fuel sending unit mounted with the fuel pump... are you sure the fuel sending unit is bad and not the float? might have to get under the car to check... i know on slightly earlier models, the sending unit can be removed without dropping the tank... there is the retaining ring holding it in place facing the rear differential... after the ring is off, the sending unit needs twisted out since the float arm hangs in there... i advise to make sure the tank is under half tank when doing this... i know that around here, i can still get floats and the round gasket for the sending unit at a Ford stealership... cost for float and the round gasket/seal is under $10... the floats are made of brass if i remember right and are soldered together but overtime deteriorate and leak causing them to sink from filling with fuel... let us know how this turns out
