My 94 LTD CV with a 302 gets about 13.5mpg with a mostly highway trip (17.5l/100km)
Is this normal, or should the car be getting better mileage?
*Also does anyone know where I can get the performance specs for the 2bbl 84 302 ? (I dont have the CFI fuel injected engine, I have a regular 2bbl carb, what im looking for is peak hp and torqe and RPM)
My 87 LTD LX CV gets around 20 street and 25 highway stock. I think it all depends on the package options. As for the 84 302 specs I'll find my sheets and type them up if you want? My address is monstermayhemmodels@yahoo.com
Blue - those numbers are music to my ears. I'm exactly two weeks away from having an 87 wagon parked in my yard, and if I can get 20/25 from it, I will be a very happy man. :) At least I can be fairly sure it won't get the 6/13 I used to get from the 351W in my old 74 Gran Torino! That really hurt at 70-80 cents/litre. ($2.65/$3.03 per US gallon)
Oh, then changes allot. In 1984 MPG was around 17 street and 20 highway cause the CFI (central Fuel Injection) wasn't that good on them. In 86 they went with EFI (Electronic Fuel Injection) witch works extremly good. Also in 86 they changed the heads, water pump, and some other engine stuff witch help MPG. Also the AOD (some times called AOT) transmission helped allot in the crowns and lasted long and went bad around 80,000-120,000 miles. As for gas I have a 375 gallon stored in containers and drums, if theres ever a shortaged, I'm not going to be affected :) Also I'm been building a electic motor (well trying too) in my 82 crown, so far I can get it to go 3 MPH before the battery dies. Its fun stuff.
so 13.5 is still low for my car, this could relate to my other thread, when I fill the tank, the nozzle will click if I fill it too fast, seems like a venting issue
btw Does CFI look exactly like a carb, I think I just have a regular 2bbl carb on mine.
Well in my 90 Crow Vic with the 302 I get 17-20 street and 25+ highway. And CFI looks like a carb but the injectors are right on top of the carb spraying down into it.
in mid 84 they went to CFI on crowns, I think in september or novemder of 84. Before that they had a 2 bbl 350 CFM carb. September and november I think are considered 85 model, why they sell before the model year gets me. I have a 82 crown that was made december of 81, but title says 82 with the same VIN.
