Hi,
My Mercury Grand Marquis was in a front end collision which triggered the airbags. I have been told that you can get a kit like a dummy airbag instead of replacing them with the actual airbags. Are these available and if so where can I get one from? If not where can I find the cheapest replacement airbags from? Ebay doesn.t have any for my year.

You can search here for the real ones. I'd put the air bags back in. In case of another collision, someone could get hurt badly or killed. It's not worth it in my opinion.

Also, If I'm not mistaken, if someone else ends up with that car with dummy bags and has a wreck, could land you in trouble.

Yea your right about that. I only asked because the airbags are expensive. About $150 a piece. Then I have to get them fitted.
Could I fit them myself? Is it just a case of taking the old ones out and putting the new ones in or is there something else I need to change like a relay or something?

The crash sensors will also probably have to be replaced. I'm not into body work so I'm not up on that part. I know I've removed them and reinstalled them in doing other repairs. You do have to unhook the battery for several minutes before diconnecting and connecting them. The computer on the car should be reset or the air bags won't deploy if you're in a crash. This is best done at a dealership or mechanic who has the correct computer programs.

Yea I looked but nowhere has a blue set. Tan and brown are everywhere but not blue.

I did a "All areas/select an area" search and found many blue ones. They aren't big so they should be able to be shipped.

I actually found one local. Includes module and is only $100 for the pair. Its for a '99 but I think it will still fit my '98.
