3 of the 4 chrome trim inserts on my bumpers have become speckled looking on my 2005 Grand Marquis. They are just these strange little spots that are all over.. nothing that I can feel or wash off. Anyhow, the parts seem pretty cheap and I would like to replace them but I haven't had any luck regarding how-to. Is this something a novice could do? Input is appreciated.

They're glued in place so it depends on what you're capable of. You could always carefuly remove one and if you can't clean the old glue enough, then take it to a body shop or to someone that can. I don't believe it'd be that hard to do. Just be careful of the painted part of the bumper.

I have a nylon piece for trim that's shaped like a small putty knife that won't damage paint. I don't know what to recommend for that. It does takes a lot of patience so as not to damage the paint. Once a prt gets started, it comes off a lot easier. Check with a body shop and see what they'd charge. It may be worth it.
