Thanks all. I'm kinda leaning more towards disconnecting the heater hoses to the core at the firewall and flushing the core directly instead of flushing the entire system. I installed the manifold upgrade about one and a half years ago and also installed all new hoses, thermostat, and a flushing tee at the same time. I've always kept the coolant tank filled to rule out air pockets. I had the gurgling sound before as well as after the upgrade, so the heater core is pretty much all that is left to check.
