I have a 98 Grand Marquis LS that has a water gurgling sound coming from the glove compartment area. I hear the noise when accelerating from a stop or after making a turn and accelerating. I've always kept coolant in the recovery tank, so it doesn't seem to be sucking air into the system. Also, there's no coolant leaking from anywhere including the heater core. Has anyone else had this happen? A partially clogged core perhaps? I've always kept clean coolant in the engine.

Sounds like a air pocket. Make sure coolant tank is at proper level when cold and also make sure radiator is full.

my ex's car did this... come to find out it was due to the heater core being clogged and only trickling into it instead of regular flow... i would be cautious and carry a "T" fitting or piece of flared pipe in case it pops on you and you have to bypass on side of the road to get it home

Could try reverse flushing cooling system / heater matrix and then bleeding .

Thanks all. I'm kinda leaning more towards disconnecting the heater hoses to the core at the firewall and flushing the core directly instead of flushing the entire system. I installed the manifold upgrade about one and a half years ago and also installed all new hoses, thermostat, and a flushing tee at the same time. I've always kept the coolant tank filled to rule out air pockets. I had the gurgling sound before as well as after the upgrade, so the heater core is pretty much all that is left to check.
