Headlights

Has anyone done anything to upgrade their headlights on their newer vics (98+)? I have a 2000, and the headlights seem almost useless compared to my explorer(same bulb-9007) and tundra. The lenses are clear, not yellowed. I am not really interested in going the hid route- i hate it when people put hids into cars with lenses not designed for them, they seem to not direct the light properly and blind everyone else. I have tried several different bulbs (silverstar, eurodezigns) and nothing seems to be an improvement over stock. I thought about putting some fog lights behind the grille, but i dont think the staties would like that, especially when they already hassled me about the spotlight while i was pumping my gas.

what are your thoughts?
Are there aftermarket lenses with better reflectors?

thanks,
john

Re: Headlights

If you're changing the reflector anyway, you can get the right ones for HID bulbs & get all those benefits for your $$$.

Re: Headlights

I asked the same question of my 01' CV, and was told it's an inherant problem due to the design of the lens and changing/upgrading the bulb wouldn't gain you very much if anything....

Re: Headlights

Headlight relay upgrade from SUVlights.com. Best headlight mod I've done for my CVPI. It was night and day difference. Also upgrade the bulb either to Sylvania xtravisions or Philips xtreme power. You won't regret it. Here's a link. suvlights.com

Re: Headlights

best thing you can do is pick up a HID kit there easy to install, and the difference is amazing. do not go more then 8000k or you will get a ticket. also the silver stars and Ge night Hawks are garbage they cost twice the life of conventional bulbs and have half the life read the package next time your at you local auto parts store. i have had HIDs for three years never replaced bulb yet.
