Re: Headlights won't stay on keep turning off...

The body control module has a relay that's not soldered in correct. We've had 3 go out. 2 were still under warranty and the other had to be bought. They should have a safety recall on this problem. Contact a Ford Factory Rep and let him know about that. Maybe you can get some help.

We took the non-warranty one apart and found the relay problem. When we pulled the relay, a pin broke off. It was the only one soldered good.

Also go to IVOQ - File a Complaint and put in a complaint.

Here's one that was put in at that site. Sounds like the same as ours.

Make : FORD Model : CROWN VICTORIA Year : 2005
Manufacturer : FORD MOTOR COMPANY
Crash : No Fire : No Number of Injuries: 0
ODI ID Number : 10241788 Number of Deaths: 0
Date of Failure: August 18, 2008
VIN : Not Available
Component: EXTERIOR LIGHTING:HEADLIGHTS
Summary:
I RECENTLY BEGAN HAVING HEADLIGHT TROUBLE WHEN MY HEADLIGHTS STARTED TO SHUT OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING. I OWN A 2005 FORD CROWN VICTORIA I STILL HAD MY DASH LIGHTS AND TAIL LIGHTS WORKING. APPARENTLY IT IS SOME SORT OF DESIGN FLAW IN THE LCM AND IT ONLY APPLIES TO THE LOW BEAMS AND CONSTANT ON HIGH BEAM FUNCTION. THE FLASH TO PASS FUNCTION WILL STILL WORK THOUGH WHEN IT WAS MALFUNCTIONING. IT SEEMS TO BE ON THE LCM OR LIGHTING CONTROL MODULE. *TR
