The headrest in my 2002 Vic juts into the back of my neck and is therefore REALLY uncomfortable. I'm 6'4" and it doesn't come up to the back of my head where it should be. I'd like to remove it (for now) or turn it around, but it doesn't have a release latch. I suppose it was designed for little old ladies and men who tend to buy this car, but that was pretty short-sighted of the engineers. Anyone know how to get it out? Thanks!

I am only 5' 10" and with the head rest FULLY extended it fits the back of my head perfectly. I can imagine if I were 6" taller like you are, it would be pretty annoying having it resting against the back of my neck. I tried to see if I could remove mine and it seems impossible to do. I assume your car is still under warranty- have you tried speaking with the dealer that sold you the car to see if the service department can remove it for you? Seems like something that would be simple for them to do if they want to keep you as a repeat customer there in the future.

I also spent quite a bit of time trying to figure out how to get the headrest out (and I was an engineer at Ford for 9 years), but it appears that you need a special tool and/or have to remove the fabric from the seat to access the mounting system. My next step (as you suggested) is to go to the dealer and see what they say. Thanks for your help!
