heater/AC blower problems

The blower on my 92 Grand Marquis only works on high. I know on most older Fords this usually means a bad blower resistor, but I can't find one listed at the local parts stores. I did find a blower control switch online. Is this what I need & if so, what is involved in replacing it? Also, how do I know if I have automatic temperature control? Thanks in advance for any input.

Re: heater/AC blower problems

The resistor is a dealer item only in my area. $20.00 some dollars and they have to order it. I am having a somewhat similar problem with my 1990 but I only have low speed air coming out.

Re: heater/AC blower problems

Where is the blower resistor physically located in the car?

Re: heater/AC blower problems

on my 1990 it is outside on the exterior of the heating/ ac box. Back left side of the engine. below the map sensor. It was easier for me to ubolt the map and then remove the 2 screws from the resistor and bring it up where i could then unplug it. The plug has 2 clips on it. Hardest part of the job was removing the plug. Order the resistor and have them print you out a picture of where the resistor is.
