I have a 99 grand marquis, and I was told when I bought it that the lock actuator was broken so I bought a new one. When I feel around in the door where the lock actuator is, I can't find anything that attatches it to the door or anything. How do you get the thing out???
1. Remove the front door trim panel
2. Release the linkage.
3. Remove the rivets.
4. Remove the door handle.
5. Disconnect door lock cylinder rod.
6. Remove the clip. This is on the outside edge of the door.
I'm having a hard time understanding where the clip is at. I don't see a clip on the outside door edge. Also, how would I put the rivets back on if I remove them?
The clip is black and at the edge of the door, level with the lock cylinder. You have to drill the rivets out and either get screws and lock nuts or have a body shop re-rivet them back in.
