Im new at this...and i couldnt find a forum for just ltd..and i got a question bout 1

i own a 1986 ford ltd (not crown victoria) and i didnt know where else to ask this question...... my ltd has a automatic 3.8l V6 and i was wondering how much horsepower it should have..... and also what size ford motor is closest in power to mine. if u can help me id really appreciate it!!!!! thanx!!!!!!!!

Your engine has about 140hp and 215ft/lb. Ford's 3.0L Vulcan V6 is probably the closest to the 3.8L. The 3.0L was a base engine in Taurus and the 3.8L was an option. I think both engine made the same hp but the 3.8L made more torque. Ford used the 3.0L in Tempos and Rangers, too.

Actually, the '86 LTD was rated at 120 hp and 205 ft lbs of torque.

The 3.8 Essex and 3.0 Vulcan have nothing in common other than the same bellhousing bolt pattern. Otherwise, the blocks are completely different.
