installing a hayden transmission cooler

I have a 1990 ford crown victoria wagon which I have installed a hitch, now I have to install the hayden transmission cooler. However, I don't quite understand how to do it. I am not sure what hoses I have to disconnect. Is it the metal hoses coming out from the radiator? Any help would be greatly appreciated. The instructions that came with it are a little confusing.
Thank you

Re: installing a hayden transmission cooler

I installed a trany cooler on my 1989 Mercury Grand Marquis Wagon It was the bottom line into the rad. If you are not sure pull one line out put a bucket under it get someone to trun key maybe start it. If the trany oil is coming out fast that's the line you want to send to the cooler.. then return the line to the RAD. I pulled a 5X8 cargo trailer from Ontario to into the crow's nest pass over 10 000km did good. All in Canada. I bought a tent trailer ANd pulled it all the way out east did okay. Changed the gear ratio after from 3.08 to 3.55 much better now. My car has 246500km now still great. I love this car. Woody's all the way.

Have fun what are you pulling???

I installed a brake contoller too all myself.

Have fun

Re: installing a hayden transmission cooler

Hi Reman519,
So you disconnected the botton line that went into the radiator and connected the cooler to it. I feel my top line into the radiator is my return line. The bottom line felt a little warmer than my top line. I will be towing a 5x8 uhaul trailer.
Thanks for your help, really appreciate it.

Re: installing a hayden transmission cooler

You need to hook up to the sending line it pump it into the cooler then return it into the rad. I think I get better gas mileage with the tent trailer then the cargo. The cargo is much taller more wind. then tent trailer is 2" shorter or so then the car but 2 feet wider and is over 2400lbs.

have fun. the pain in the ass is to mount the cooler I did not use zip ties.
