I recently had a full tune up done to the car and watched as the spark plugs were replaced on about 3 of them there was considerable oil coming off them as they were pulled out...I was then told the intake gaskets need to be replaced.

All three spark plugs were on the same side of the engine, I also have a small coolant leak. Could this be the gaskets or something else?

It's VERY rare to have an intake gasket leaking. As for the oil, theres no oil running through the intake, so that wouldn't be the gasket. If the valve cover gasket was leaking, also rare, it could leak oil up there. Maybe the PCV valve or seal is leaking. The coolant can be checked with a pressure tester and watch where it comes from. That could be anywhere.

thanks i had the pcv valve replaced during the tune up but I'll take another look at it...

Maybe it fixed the leak when it was replaced.
