I have a 1990 LX wagon and was recently given an 85 LX sedan. Both are 8 cyl. I was wondering if there were interchangable transmissions? Was the stock the same for both years?

Yes Pretty much everthing is interchangable as for engine and transmission. And both cars should have the same tranny, the AOD.

The engine in your 85 should be CFI, which would look like a carburetor with two fuel injectors inside it.
Both will have AOD transmissions, but the 90 could have the provisions for the wide-ratio bands.
