I have a 1980 ltd with a 351 windsor and I would like to try to find some headers for it, but I have already went to different stores and they have told me they don't make headers for the ltd or crown victoria. People have suggested I use shorty mustang headers, but I really don't know what to do.

Use shorty mustang headers. You can use some mid length tube headers but they will require you to alter the #8 cylinder tube (if I remember correctly). But a shorty mustang header will work perfect. The 302 headers are swappable with 351 headers. You will have to have your exhaust re done at least some no matter what. The stock collector flange for 1-7/8", where as almost all shorty headers will have a 2-1/2" collector flange. It is located in the same place you you won't have to have the entire exhaust redone if you don't want to, but it will need to be a larger flange. I suggest that you redo the exhaust with 2-1/2" to the cats and then 2-1/4" for the remainder.

Thanks for the help, but 'm still not sure what to get. I already had my exhaust done and im pretty sure its the exact same as you said. Im still getting asked what year the engine block is and I asked my mechanic, he said try to find a header with the year closest to my car as long as its for a 351w. I was also wondering if you could recommend a brand that would have the most selection for shorty mustang headers.

You can use the stock headers off an HO 302 from a Mustang; they'll fit. If you want to upgrade the entire exhaust system, here's your recipe:

--BBK 351 swap headers
--Fox Mustang 2.5" H pipe (with or without catalytic converters depending on whether or not you have to pass a sniffer)
--Fox Mustang mid-pipes
--a pair of 2.5"x18" extension pipes
--mufflers of your choice (2.5" inlet and outlet, offset-offset)
'94-'95 Impala SS tailpipes (just the front half of them that goes over the rear axle--they're a two piece tail)
--another pair of 2.5"x18" extension pipes
--2 2.5" turndowns
--misc. clamps and hangers

That'll give you 2.5" duals front to back, and your 351 will be very happy. It's the same setup I'm planning on putting on my 351 Ford (see my sig) when I can get the money for it scraped together.
