got them separate... we live 50 miles north of the Omaha, Nebraska area... the 1990 Grand Marquis we bought from Des Moines and the other we bought from Liberty, Missouri this week... the cars both averaged 25 MPG coming home from Liberty, Missouri ... my fiance's car is the 1990 and the 1986 is mine... mine needs the high pressure power steering line and valve cover gaskets along with IAC cleaned out.... hers needs the valve cover gaskets redone... the 1986 was $500 and has 201k on the odometer... the 1990 was $1200 and only has 95k on the odometer... some point i wanna get the windows worked on since they act up like all the other cars i have owned like these

Nice cars, and great prices, too! I miss my Dad's '89 GM GS. It was a nice car, and that too got 25 mpg on the hwy. My Dad a few times got 27 mpg's! But, with my Dad's dementia setting in, traded it off (in perfect running order), for a 'rice burner'! Couldn't believe it! When my Dad could no longer drive, and I took over his affairs, the FIRST thing I did, was sell that damn thing! If he would have still had his '89, I would have kept that!

well... my fiance's car needed front brakes... and whenever my knee allows me, i am gonna tear into doing the valve cover gaskets or at least assisting her to help teach her how to do some work on the cars... she wants to learn and i walked her thru changing the brakes on her car...

That's a good idea. It's always nice to know a little about the cars so they'll have a little more respect for what you know and do.

rather take some time and show people... my knee wont allow me to go back to working in a shop... work says as long as i have restrictions i cant go back... doctor says i am gonna have permanent restrictions... therefore i will be getting trained to do something else besides manual labor type work... many people i know wish they knew about cars the way i did... and others look at my age and think i still know nothing

It's to bad you can't stay with it. There aren't enough knwledgable guys out there. Some just don't have any ability and go at it any way. Causing the rest of us to look bad. Like the story I heard, "99% of the lawyers make the rest look bad".
