Then if it's clear, hook them back up and see if it returns.

Re: My car is all messed up.

It wasn't clear. I drove for probably a good 20 to 30 mins. It is still smoking pretty bad. It's not as bad as it was the other day but def not clear. Any other suggestions before I just pull the motor? Thanks for everyone's help.

Re: My car is all messed up.

It was smoking just a little bit before I started to work on it. However it was nothing like it is now. It wasn't even noticeable at idle, just when taking off. I'm thinking about just tearing it down to the block and replacing the head gaskets myself, how many bolts hold on the upper intake? I can only see 4 but on another post it looks like there is 6. Also what all would I need to do a HO conversion? Just the heads and intake or is there more? Thanks again.

Re: My car is all messed up.

your best bet would be to go to autozone or something and pick up a manual (maybe 25$)

Re: My car is all messed up.

I already have one but it doesn't show the same upper intake that is on my car. Besides I only look at that for torque specs. Everything else I just put back the way it was. I may have to do something more than once because I forgot something, but I learn better that way.

Re: My car is all messed up.

Okay. I finally found a site that shows step by step how to remove the upper intake. I didn't realize that I have to take off the little plate on top of the intake. I thought it was just there for looks. Well I know what I'm going to start tomorrow.

Re: My car is all messed up.

you have 6 bolts that hold down the upper intake. i would unbolt the cables fromn backside of the upper intake and unclip the throttle cable and trans cable. these cars are not known for popping head gaskets, but instead the lower intake gaskets go bad. be careful of the vacuum lines under the upper intake since some of them may break. while you have the upper intake off, i would change your PCV valve and the screen mesh located under it. they are known for clogging and letting the oil system develop too much pressure causing gasket failure in oil pan and valve cover gaskets. if you wanna know what you can disconnect, send a line. i have bypassed lotsa things in these cars since some of it just bogs the engine down.
