No Lowbeams - '85 Crown Vic

Let's get straight to the point - I own a 1985 Ford Crown Victoria. Just this evening my lowbeam headlights no longer function. They will come on, however, when the highbeams are engaged (so, the lights aren't burned out). What happened recently? Was on my way back from Toronto while it was raining (nothing I haven't done before). Car did begin to run terribly (that was/is a separate issue, and I know once it dries up, it'll run fine).

I'm very mechanically minded, own a lot a tools (I've been repairing cars since I started grade school). Probably not a lot of people own this car anymore, but wondering if anyone has any idea as to what is causing the lowbeams to not function as they once use to?

This vehicle is as base as base gets - it doesn't have the automatic dimmer, etc. I can diagnose this myself, but if someone else has an idea, it might reduce the amount of time I spend repairing the fault... Everything else is functioning on the vehicle, so I don't suspect a fuse at this time. Wire diagram seems to indicate a potential fault could exist in the highbeam switch, but i'm not convinced yet.

Start at the light switch and work out .

Re: No Lowbeams - '85 Crown Vic

Actually got some time today after work to trouble-shoot the problem. Turned out to be a bad connection in a multi-connector under the hood, on the left fender. It appeared as if this connector never had any of the grease, or silicone, manufacturers like to pack into these things to keep the elements at bay. Cleaned the connector as best as I could, and all is well.
